Description: Description! Hi, this is a cool 1960’s-esque chair that my Dad used in his workshop for many years and was planning to haul off to the dump. I was curious and through the magic of Google and the “BR-51” written on the underside, i was able to track it down to famous designer and architect Eero Saarinen, who according to Wikipedia was also responsible for the design of the John F. Kennedy International Airport and TWA Flight Center among others. The “Tulip” chair was what initially brought him widespread recognition. The chair backrest has some chips and dings and an absolutely hideously glue job on the base but is otherwise probably in very restorable shape. The base rod looks rusty but the chair feels pretty solid and quite a bit heavier than it looks (about 18lbps). It is also very much in need of a good cleaning. I can ship this but greatly prefer local pickup and I’m located in California in Monterey County, fairly close to Watsonville. Please feel free to ask questions or request more images.
