Description: This is an antique framed figural tile, showing a woman's head in profile. She wears a soft cap with a tassel, earrings and a necklace. It is finished in a mottled glaze with crazing, set in a surround made of two different types of tile - narrow decorative textured ivory edging, and a dark blue plain tile. The center tile is probably Providential or Trent tile, Trenton NJ. There are two frames: a faux grained wide outer molding with a decorative inner edge, and a separate plain gold wooden inner frame.Center tile is approx. 4 1/4" x 4 1/4"; the overall size of the frame is approx. 13 1/2" x 13 1/2" x 1 3/4". Tight, complete and ready to hang. Fabric on back, old hanging hardware. Frame has some scratches, aging, dirt, handling, wear. Tiles have chips, scratches, touch ups, aging, crazing - see photos.
