Description: This is a rare four page advertising herald (flyer) promoting the three-night, National Tour engagement of THE THEATRE GUILD REPERTORY COMPANY at the Scottish Rite Cathedral in Houston, Texas beginning February 9th, 1928. The company presented single performances of the George Bernard Shaw classic "ARMS AND THE MAN", the Ferenc Molnar comedy "THE GUARDSMAN", the A. A. Milne comedy "MR. PIMS PASSES BY" and the Sidney Howard play "THE SILVER CORD" ..... The repertory company was headed by GEORGE GAUL and FLORENCE ELDRIDGE and included ERSKINE SANFORD, HORTENSE ALDEN, FREDERIC MARCH, MOLLY PEARSON, LAWRENCE CECIL, DOROTHY FLETCHER and LEONARD LOAN ..... DETAILS: Handbills and heralds were often distributed or inserted into the playbills of other productions to help generate ticket sales for upcoming shows and events. This four page herald measures 6" X 9" inches and includes individual photos of each member of the company, list of productions in the repertoire, wonderful illustrations, excerpts from a number of New York reviews, promotional text and performance dates ..... CONDITION: With the exception of light creasing, this rare flyer is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any theatre aficionado or historian. This item will be carefully packaged in a protective, carded sleeve and backed by stiff cardboard.
