Using a Real Golf Grip and an Alloy Shaft. This feels like you are really gripping a club. Works Great in Golf+ using the Deadeye VR setting. This handle is designed so that the retention strap does not interfere with your hand when using the controller. This is a problem with many of the designs we tested. Some like the Deadeye VR even have the straps running under your palm and fingers. The cup for the controller is extra deep so there is no play or wobble. No need for 2 straps. The reason others use 2 straps is because the cup is not made to perfectly fit the controller. Ours is. You will feel it when inserting the controller. It snaps in solid even before you tighten the retention strap. When the controller is mounted in this it weighs in at almost 12 oz. Which is about the same as the average club. Adding more weight to the grip did not make it feel more like a real club as a real club has most of its weight at the head. The alloy shaft we found has thick walls and just the right weight. The shaft is connected to the cup with 2 machine screws and nuts that pass completely through the coupler. This system has both safety and full access to the controls in mind. The entire surface of the controller cup and coupler is made with a High Grip Texture. The overall length is 15 ¼” inches. The Grip is a Regular size golf grip. The install is easy: Feed the controller wrist cord through the hole in the bottom of the cup. Insert controller all the way in. Loop the Velcro retention strap over the top of the controller’s halo. Press the Velcro together. Then fold the 2 small Velcro retainers around the strap and press it all together. (Oculus recommends you always use the wrist cord. If you prefer to wear it on your left wrist to leave your right hand free to access the controller. Just remove the cord from your left grip and loop it through the wrist cord as an extension.)
