All of the serigraph displayed was published by the Master Printmaker Victor Gomez in his Miami Press Workshop since 1986. The ethic and respect for the tradition of printmaking was done with the method of hand cut and hand pulled. Also we used top quality french printmaking paper Rives BFK of the Arches company. Jose Mijares was born in Havana, Cuba in 1922, Mijares studied at the National Academy of "San Alejandro" and received the First Place of the National Painting Award in 1944 and 1959 he won Second Place in 1952. During the 1950's he participated in exhibitions at Grand National Salon, Havana: Museum of Modern Art, Paris: National Museum of Haiti and Venezuela. in 1953 he exhibited at the Biennial in Sao Paulo and in 1956 at the Biennial of Venice. His works has been exhibited in Cuban Print in Tokyo, Japan in 1954. A silk screen edition was issue in Havana in 1966. He has lived permanently in Miami since 1968, His works has been shown at Bacardi Art Gallery, Lowe Art Museum and Gloria Luria Gallery. He has also participated in: Ten Cuban Painters: Pan American Union in Washington, 1968 Retrospective of Cuban painting in Miami, 1976: Latin American Artist, Lowe Art Museum in Miami 1978: Latin American Treasure Center for the Fine Art of Miami, 1987 and in Outside Cuba, a traveling exhibition inaugurated in 1987 by the Office of Hispanic Arts in Rutgers University, New Jersey, Since 1989 to his death Miami Press Workshop has published eleven limited edition serigraph of the Master.
