Description: An Original Student Assignment by Now-Artist F. Lennox Campello, Jr.(Please note that photos were a bit tricky due to glare on the glass/acrylic) I am not an art expert, but the illustration appears to me to be ink with water color and colored pencil. Campello studied art at the University of Washington School of Art in Seattle, WA, graduating in 1981. He began selling several years earlier, in the late 1970s, and regularly exhibited and sold his work at the Pike Place Market in Seattle. This piece was a school assignment, to copy a master drawing; it is a copy of a Frank Franzetta work. Franzetta was an American artist specializing in the fantasy and science fiction genres, comic book art, and book covers. The piece that Campello copied can be found in the 1977 book "The National Lampoon Encyclopedia of Humor." On the back, written in pencil, is the following information:"After Frank Frazetta"1978 F. Lennox Campello, Jr.c. Pacific CampelloThis work was done as an art school assignment at the Univ. of Washington School of Art where the assignment was to copy a master drawing. [signed] F. The cardboard backing is glued in. The framed work is approximately 14" x 10". Image size within the matte is 7.5" x 6.25".
